Dudley
U-13 2
- 5.03.05
Walsall
under-13s
are the only
Walsall
side clinging on to a possible
West
Midlands
semi-final spot after a last gasp equaliser in the game against Brierley Hill
and
Dudley
. The
first half saw few chances for either side but Paul Finn (Shire Oak) gave
Walsall
the lead
with a clever chip over the advancing keeper.
Walsall
keeper
Tom Powell (Willenhall) was carried off before the break when he collided with
the post and Ryan Allsopp (Barr Beacon) took over. George Bowerman (High Arcal)
equalised early in the second half when the
Walsall
defence
failed to clear after a scramble in the box. The
Walsall
defence
was guilty again five minutes later as Reece Harley (Dormston) grabbed the lead
for the visitors.
Walsall
grabbed a
last-gasp equaliser against the run of play when Ben Lund (Shelfield) hit a
fierce shot inside the near post.

dying seconds of this
West Midlands
game.
Walsall
took the
lead when Paul Finn (Shire Oak) scored in the first half. Ben Lund (Shelfield)
increased the lead in the second half but Stoke pulled a goal back and put
Walsall
under
pressure.
Walsall
keeper
Ryan Allsop (Barr Beacon) pulled off some good saves but Stoke grabbed a
deserved equaliser to leave
Walsall
’s
semi-final place in some doubt.
Cannock U-13 1
Walsall
U-13 0 - 29.01.05
Walsall
under-13s suffered a shock defeat at lowly Cannock after they gifted the home side
a goal in the last seconds of the first half. Clearly suffering from a long
lay-off this was a poor performance from Walsall and leaves their chances of a
West Midlands semi-final spot very much in doubt. Paul Finn (Shire Oak) worked
hard up front for Walsall but chances were few and far between. Mitchell Teece
(Walsall Academy) and Josh Pickard (Streetly) also performed well but Walsall
could not find a way through the Cannock defence.

comfortable lead at the break. Paul Finn (Shire Oak) increased
Walsall
’s lead
from the spot after Ben Lund had been fouled. Finn completed the scoring for

there was
an encouraging debut from Luke Guy (Willenhall).
Walsall
U-13 2
Cannock
U-13 2 (a.e.t.
Cannock
won 4-2 on penalties) - 9.10.04
Walsall
under-13s looked well on top in this Walsall Cup game when
Harry Mason (Streetly) set up Ben Lund (Shelfield) for the opening goal after
ten minutes. Jake Broadhurst (Shelfield) nearly increased
Walsall
’s lead a minute later and
Lund
saw a shot hit the post before the break.
Walsall
continued to make chances with Jordan Jones (Streetly)
denied by a brave block.
Cannock
then started to get on top and
Walsall
keeper Tom Powell (Willenhall) prevented an equaliser with a
brave block, but he could do nothing about an Alex Imerfreys strike a minute
later. Powell made another good save in the last minute to take the game into
extra time. Jones came close again on two occasions for
Walsall
before Andy Samuels looked to have sealed victory for
Cannock
with an unstoppable shot. Josh Pickard (Streetly) took the
game to penalties with seconds left after
Cannock
failed to clear a corner.
Cannock
won the shootout 4-2 with four well taken penalties.
Walsall
U-13 1
Wolverhampton
U-13 2 - 6.11.04
Walsall
under-13s
went down to a last minute goal against
Wolverhampton
in this
West
Midlands
game.
Walsall
played
well against a much bigger side and took a first half lead when Paul Finn (Shire
Oak) latched onto a poor clearance and chipped the keeper from 25 yards. Wolves
equalised early in the second half but
Walsall
continued
to carve out scoring chances. The extra height in the Wolves team paid off in
the last minute when a corner kick caused big problems for the
Walsall
defence
and Wolves grabbed the winning goal.
