The Walsall SFA Under-12 Squad
2005-06
Press Reports
Walsall
U-12 1 Coventry
U-12 3
- 25.03.06
This game was a
decider for the last semi-final place in the
West Midlands
competition and Ryan Walker (Willenhall) gave Walsall
an early lead. Five minutes into the second half
Coventry
equalised from the penalty spot and then took the lead with
an unlucky own goal. Jak Morrell-Davies (Shelfield) came close to an equaliser
but saw his shot shave the bar.
Walsall
keeper Lewis Pritchard (Pool Hayes) kept Walsall
in the hunt with some good saves but could do nothing about Coventry’s third goal.
Coventry U-12 1 Walsall U-12
1 (Coventry won 4-2 on penalties - ESFA Divisional Cup) - 28.02.06
Walsall under-12s went out of the English Schools' F.A. Cup competition in
unlucky fashion. Cameron Broadway (Sneyd) headed home from a free kick to give
Walsall hope but the deadlock was unbroken after extra-time and Walsall lost the
penalty shoot-out 4-2.
Wolverhampton
U-12 4 Walsall
U-12 1 - 04.02.06
Walsall
under-12s resumed their Staffordshire season after a long
lay-off and the game was much closer than the final score suggests.
Walsall
took the lead with a goal from Ryan Walker (Willenhall)
after he was cleverly set up by a ball from Sam Smith (Streetly).
Walsall
had chances to put the game out of reach before Wolves
equalised. Wolves increased their lead before the half-time whistle and then
rocked
Walsall
with a third goal almost from the second half kick-off. The
fourth Wolves goal came near the end. This was Walsall's
third defeat in this competition and with the squad still not finalised the team
is now playing for a place in the squad for next season as manager Scott Cooksey
continues to look at players in the remaining games. The season is far from over
as there is the postponed cup game against Coventry still to be played with a
semi-final spot at stake.
Cannock
and District U-12 7 Walsall
U-12 0
-
10.12.05
Walsall
under-12s were on the receiving end of a hammering at
Cannock
. In a woeful performance for
Walsall
the home side must have thought Christmas had arrived early.
This must be the largest margin of victory by a
Cannock
side over
Walsall
at any age group ever. The result was all the more
surprising considering
Walsall
’s good performance against Kings Norton and
South Birmingham
last week.
Walsall
now play
Wolverhampton
in the next game. Not the best opposition to be facing after
such a defeat and remembering
Wolverhampton’s successful under-11 season last year.
Walsall
U-12 2 Kings Norton
and South Birmingham
U-12 2
- 03.12.05
Walsall under-12s earned a hard-fought draw in this
West Midlands
game. They got off to the worst possible start in the first
minute when a cross was diverted into the net by a
Walsall
defender.
Walsall
keeper Daniel Whitehouse (Streetly) then produced a brave
block to prevent the visitors scoring a second.
Walsall
’s first attack produced the equaliser when Ralph Clark
(Aldridge) slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.
Walsall
were caught on the break as the visitors regained the lead
and
Clark
turned defender to clear a shot off the line on the stroke
of half-time. David Meddings (Aldridge) grabbed a deserved
Walsall
equaliser in the second half as both sides tired on the
heavy pitch.
Stoke-on-Trent
U-12 3 Walsall
U-12 1
- 12.11.05
Walsall
under-12s also gave away two goals in the first five minutes
of their game and keeper Daniel Whitehouse (Streetly) prevented further
disasters before half-time.
Walsall
were more competitive in the second half but Stoke made the
game safe with a third goal. Jak Morrell-Davies (Shelfield) scored a
consolation goal when his free kick went in off the post.
Erdington and Saltley U-12
2 Walsall
U-12 2 15.10.05
Walsall
under-12s made a promising start to
their season dominating the early play at Erdington and Saltley. Ryan Walker
(Willenhall) gave Walsall
the lead with a fierce shot into
the roof of the net but Erdington and Saltley rocked Walsall
with two goals in a minute before
half time. Walsall
battled away in the second half and
Walker completed an impressive performance
with the equaliser ten minutes before the end. The home keeper then produced two
good saves to deny Walsall
a winner.
