Press Report
Sixteen Walsall primary schools battled it out at Millfield
primary school to decide who will represent Walsall in the West Midlands final
of the national under-11 6-a-side competition. In the East final Blackwood beat
Millfield 1-0 with a Ben Andrews goal. Blackwood was the only team to collect maximum points in the
group stages. In the West final a goal from Chad Masters and a kick from keeper
James Willey that somehow found the opposite net gave St. Thomas of Canterbury
victory over holders Ryders Hayes.
Blackwood and St. Thomas represented
Walsall SFA in the West Midlands Final at Brownhills Community School on
November 24th.
The victorious team from Blackwood after they won the
Primary Championship East Final 1-0 against the hosts Millfield. In the
West Midlands final they were second in their group drawing 0-0 with Grove Vale
(West Bromwich) and St. Mary and John (Erdington) and beating the eventual
winners Our Lady of the Wayside (Solihull) 2-0.
The team from St Thomas of Canterbury pictured after
winning the West Final by beating Ryders Hayes 2-0. Both sides represented
Walsall in the West Midlands Final at Brownhills School on November 24th. In the
West Midlands final they won their group by scoring the only goal in the group
when they beat Castle Bromwich (Solihull) 1-0. In the other group games they
drew 0-0 with Hill West (Sutton Coldfield) and Oldswinford (Halesowen and
Stourbridge). They lost 2-0 to Our Lady of the Wayside (Solihull) in the
semi-final.

3rd at Millfield Primary School, Brownhills.
St. Giles replaced Busill Jones who were unable to
attend the finals.
